Manage New Title Notification

Your library may have activated on option on the Member Services menubar called MANAGE NEW TITLE NOTIFICATION which allows you to view, add, delete or change SDI Profiles for the notification of New Titles that the library may receive.  The functionality of this option is as follows:

1.        The MANAGE NEW TITLE NOTIFICATION page will sections for Standard Profiles and Custom Profiles.

2.        A STANDARD PROFILE is a template setup by the library, and you cannot change any details on these Profiles but you can add or remove them from your record.  The Available Profiles list will display all of the Profiles that have been setup by the library.  You can switch on the checkbox next to the Profile name and then click on the ADD button.  This will add it to the CURRENT PROFILES list on the right.  The Current Profiles list is what is actually tied to your Member record.   You can remove any Profile from your Member record by switching on the checkbox next to the Profile name and then click on the DELETE button.  To  view the setup details of any Standard Profile listed in either the Available Profiles or Current Profiles section, click on the Profile name and another screen will display with all of the template details.

3.        A CUSTOM PROFILE is a Profile that can be fully customised by you (or library staff) and added to your Member record.   Any Custom Profiles currently on your Member record will be listed.  You can switch on the checkbox next to the Custom Profile name, then click on the DELETE PROFILE button to remove the Custom Profile from your Member record.   Click on the ADD PROFILE button to add a new Custom Profile, or click on any of the Profile names to go to the EDIT page, where you can make changes to the setup.

4.        The Custom Profile Add/Edit page has the following fields for entry or selection:

·                Profile Code:  Completion of this field is MANDATORY.   Alpha or numeric characters can be used.

·                Profile Description:  It is recommended that you use a self-explanatory description to indicate what the Profile is for.

·                Publication Year (From and To):  It is not mandatory to complete these fields, but it is recommended if you only want to receive notification of material published in particular years.

·                Material Types (e.g. Books, DVDs, Periodicals, etc):  These Material Type groups are setup by your library.  The first selection in the list will always be for All Materials.  You can either select this option, or select one or more individual Material Types if you only want notification about new titles in particular formats.

·                Collections (e.g. Adult Fiction, Junior Fiction, Non-Fiction, etc):  These Collection groups are setup by your library.  The first selection in the list will always be for All Collections.  You can either select this option, or select one or more individual Collection if you only want notification about new titles for particular Collection Types.

·                Subjects, Series and Authors:  As the internal notification programs work on the exact terms for these, it is recommended that you do not enter anything in these fields manually, but use the Search buttons beside each section to search for and select the exact terms in the library database.  On the Search screen, enter the search term in the INDEX TERMS field, then click on the Search button.  All matching available terms will then be listed.  Multiple selections can be made by switching on the checkbox next to each term.  After all selections have been made, click on the TRANSFER button at the bottom of the Search screen.  You will be then returned to the Profile Entry/Edit page and the terms selected will be inserted into the relevant area.  There is no limit to the number of Subjects, Series or Authors that can be added to any Custom Profile.

5.          When all selections have been made for the Custom Profile, click on the SUBMIT button.
