Australian adventurer Tim Jarvis retraces Mawson's gruelling experience to find the answer to how Mawson lived in 1912, after the loss of his supplies and his companions plunged him into one of the most amazing feats of physical and mental endurance of all time. Jarvis, author of a book of the same title, confronts the deadly ice as Mawson did, with similar meagre rations and primitive clothing and equipment.
