A young man is brutally gunned down in the street as Miss Phryne Fisher looks on. Outraged by the brutal slaughter, Phryne promises to find out who is responsible. What she doesn't know is that she will have to descend into a world of bank robbers and anarchists in order to find out the truth. Along the way she meets Peter, a battle-scarred, sexy Slav who offers more than just information but Phryne has little time to react when her beloved maid, Dot, suddenly disappears.
